The « classic » all-canvas yurt on a wooden frame is suitable for nomads, but in Europe, when you have the opportunity to put a yurt on a plot of land, it’s usually not for three days! Hence the idea of making a demountable yurt all the same, but without the drawbacks of its all-canvas sister.
The result is a thick, waterproof, self-tensioning canvas (30-year lifespan instead of 8 years), air circulation forced by the venturi effect between the insulation and the canvas: in summer, the yurt stays cool, and an overhanging roof: no run-off on doors or windows. It’s quieter in windy conditions.
4.5 m in diameter, 16 m², €6,000 in materials. Construction: one person during 2½ months. Assembly and finishing: two people for 5 days.
