SAF Welding Station

SAF wanted to redesign its entire range of welding units: a lot of work over several years.

The challenge was to rejuvenate the whole range (with the advent of plastic parts in soldering stations), improve ergonomics, while retaining its justified reputation for solidity and reliability.

I was competing with two other design agencies: veterans who weren’t yet using CAD. I came in first, and had modeled a cool 3D soldering station that they could manipulate in all directions (virtually). SAF chose our agency.
