Having left Paris, I was surprised to see many more old cars in the countryside. Discussing the subject here and there, I realized that it wasn’t always a question of budget: « given what we’re being offered in new cars, we might as well make the old one last!
I took some time with people to try and find out more. They started telling me what they’d like in a car. Having found plenty of ideas, I contacted the head of prospective at PSA. They suspected a market of around 5 million cars in Europe for the countryside. I interviewed around 300 people, and 40 of them agreed to be filmed for exchanges lasting around 1h30.
What emerged was a sketch of a car based on 56 points: functionality, ergonomics, quality and aesthetics.
An example: « When I’m not in a condition to drive (tiredness, alcohol, etc.), I’d like to be able to rest flat in my car – sleep or drive, you have to choose ».
