Igloo

The idea behind this project was to create a small, round, calm and relaxing space for the tea ceremony. A transparent dome with two panes of glass and a glass door for light. Thick mineral insulating material for the wall: 18 cm at the bottom, 12 cm at the top (a mixture of sand, hemp, air lime and coarse plaster). It’s easy to heat, and with a height of 3.2 m (under the dome), you can breathe and feel good, just like in a converted cave! It’s also a great place to sleep.

4.5 m in diameter, 16 m², 87 m³, €4,000 worth of materials. To build the dome, window frame, door and foundations: one person 10 days. Assembly: 2 people 1 day. Filling the material: 6 people 5 days.
