Big Yurt

I entered a yurt for the first time over twenty years ago, and I still remember that feeling of well-being! Yurts are generally 6 to 8 m in diameter, and have very few windows.
In Europe, people live much more indoors than in Mongolia, so this yurt is much more spacious and has more windows.
The central position of the stove (only 9 kw) keeps you really warm in winter, while a Canadian well cools the space in summer.
This yurt is equipped with a bathroom (bathtub), kitchen and bedrooms, separated by 2m-high partition walls.

This large, round space is very pleasant to live in, and the acoustics of this yurt are surprising: the sound is soft, precise and enveloping.

12 m diameter, 110 m², 400 m³, €20,000 worth of materials, hemp felt insulation, waterproof and breathable canvas. It is anchored to the ground and designed to withstand winds in excess of 100 km/h.
To build it: 6 months’ work for 1 person, and 3 one-day workcamps for 6 people.
